2024 Election Results

Colorado voters approved all but 4 of the 14 state ballot measures: Amendments K (constitutional deadlines) and 80 (school choice) and Propositions 127 (big cats) and 131 (top-4 all-candidate primary and ranked voting in the general).

Boulder voters approved a pay raise for council members and allowed executive sessions but narrowly rejected changes to the boards and commissions. RTD voters approved removing RTD’s revenue cap – often called deBrucing in Colorado.

On July 18 the first case under Amendment H’s new judicial disciplinary process resulted in public censure of former District Court Judge Justin Haenlein.

The state legislature struggled to balance the budget this year. Passage of Prop 130 to spend $350M on law enforcement made the budget squeeze even tighter. President Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” could be renamed the “Budget-Busting Bill” in Colorado because it will require Colorado to cut $1B from the current state budget. Gov Polis is expected to call a special session in the next few weeks to respond to the budget shortfall.
